    ~  Made in the 70’s  ~
    These LED bubble displays were developed
    just prior to the invention of the
    Liquid Crystal Display (LCD's).
    These were seen in early hand-held calculators,
    (and a variation in early wristwatches)
    but disappeared shortly after the benefits of
    the low power LCD was developed.
    NOTE:
    This is a six digit display even though
    it has nine plastic lens bubbles.  (National standardized
    its line by using the same plastic bubble lens cover
    in its line of 6, 7, 8, and 9 digit displays.)
